“As a registered student member of the institute, you are qualified to write the examination and apply for an exemption if necessary. The Capacity Building and Certification Division is in charge of conducting/administering the entire stages of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria examinations.
The examination is in three stages viz: Diploma, Intermediate Professional, and Chartered Banker Levels. Successful completion of the three stages of the examination will lead to the award of the Certificate, the Associateship of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB).” Source: CIBN official website.

Objectives of the Examination
- Uphold and ensure the observance of professional ethics and tradition in the banking and financial industry
- Promote general advancement of banking practice in banks and their branches;
- Facilitate good rapport among bankers on matters of common interest;
- Keeping abreast of the latest developments in the banking industry;
- Promote and ensure the highest level of adherence to sound and generally accepted banking practices; and
- Uphold the integrity of the banking profession in order to instill public confidence in the banking system.

The Banking Professional and Microfinance Certification Examinations would be conducted via Computer Based Testing (CBT) Platform while other Certification Programme Examinations will be conducted via Remote Online Proctoring for October 2022.
Registration for October 2022 Examinations will close at 5:00 pm on Monday, September 19, 2022.
The experiential learning module examination will be conducted via the Remote Online Proctoring Platform. Please note that effective April 2023, the Banking Professional and Certification Examinations will be conducted via Remote Online Proctoring. The Timetable has been structured to enable candidates to write a maximum of two (2) modules of one and half hours each per Session (i.e. Morning Session: 9:00 am to 12:00noon and Afternoon Session: 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm).
